Oxford Computer Group - Identity and Access (IDA) Workshops

Honed through the process of repeated delivery, we now have a number of IDA workshop offerings. All deliver valuable results and almost every project we undertake starts with a workshop. They can be high level to start with, providing an understanding of identity and access and the key issues to consider so that a strategy can be formed. Or more engagement focused, looking at the nitty-gritty detail of business processes, functional requirements and technologies to enable a detailed delivery plan to be created.

Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager (FIM) 2010 Workshop

This workshop extends our proven workshop and approach for deploying identity and access solutions using ILM 2007, embracing the enhanced capabilities of FIM 2010 (formerly referred to as ILM “2”). The workshop is designed to help customers understand FIM, its value to the organization, the most suitable approaches to implementation and how to move forward.

Identity & Access Envision Workshop

This can be as little as a half-day, on-site workshop or form the start of a longer strategic engagement. During this time we conduct presentations, facilitate brainstorming and lead group discussions to explain concepts and gather requirements.

The objectives are:
  • To impart an understanding of the business issues that solutions for identity and access address.
  • To identify the organisations identity and access issues and to prioritise by means of a high-level cost benefit analysis.
  • To understand the IT environment in which solutions for identity and access will need to be implemented.
Following the workshop we compile the findings into a brief report highlighting the major issues identified, a high level roadmap and suggestions as to how to move forward. This is then discussed with the main project sponsor and any follow up actions agreed.

Identity & Access Engagement Discovery Workshop

Solutions for identity and access typically affect a large number of interested parties. Experience shows that running a workshop early on in the engagement is a very effective means of eliciting and sharing information, which pays dividends later in the project.

This technology focussed workshop is aimed at a technical and business audience and is typically made up of a number of sessions of about 2 days duration but may be more, depending on the project. The workshop provides a clear understanding and assessment of the requirements. The value for you is education, expert guidance and a set of deliverables which provide the business case and plan for moving forward.

The output from this workshop is compiled into a number of planning and design documents including:
  • Vision Statement and Solution Objectives.
  • Project Plan and Scope.
  • Identification of areas where further information is required.
  • Training needs.
  • Accurate budgetary estimates.

Strong Authentication Engagement Discovery Workshop

Enterprises recognise the limitation and risk posed by “single factor authentication”, typically a password, which can be compromised by social engineering, network traffic capture, brute force, keystroke logging, etc. The extension / blurring of the enterprise perimeter by use of internet based VPN connectivity and applications delivered through browsers such as OWA and Citrix means that those single factors are extremely vulnerable, being exposed on un-managed terminals and untrusted networks. It is widely accepted therefore that stronger authentication methods are necessary.

But given the multitude of scenarios, permutations and usability / security considerations (not to mention vendors and technologies), taking the first steps can seem daunting. This workshop brings clarity to this subject and provides the platform from which to embark on your projects.
