PROGRAM IN FULL

Identity, Security, and Governance in a Complex World (Hugh Simpson-Wells, OCG)

OCG founder and CEO Hugh Simpson-Wells will talk about the importance of strong identity management as the essential underpinning of three areas:

  • Operational efficiency: Most organizations are still not reaping all the possible benefits from identity data synchronization and process orchestration
  • Security: Identity management secures the cloud, enables various flavors of single sign-on, and provides a reliable basis for the management of group and other entitlement objects
  • Governance: Increased regulatory scrutiny, as well as plain old good management, demands better governance. IT – with identity in the vanguard – can do so much to streamline these governance processes, reporting, and (where possible) automatically remediating risks and violations

Hugh will cover recent trends, look at some of the choices available, and discuss which of these choices are appropriate for various business situations.

Death of Passwords? (Frank Urena, OCG)

OCG’s highly experienced Principal Architect, Frank Urena, will talk about how the world is changing when it comes to passwords. Spoiler alert – the password isn’t dead yet, but Frank will talk about how we work with our partners Microsoft, Lieberman Software, and Crossmatch to reduce the reliance on passwords in the enterprise, enable privileged account management, and to better secure systems where passwords are in use.

Governance Trends (Hugh Simpson-Wells and Frank Urena, OCG)

Governance is perhaps the fastest moving of the three areas we are addressing at the forum. It is maturing rapidly within Microsoft’s Azure platform, and with the support of Saviynt, OCG’s Governance partner, we can provide solutions that span all legacy on-premises and all cloud systems, providing everything from attestation/certification to privileged access management, to attribute- or role-based access control. This presentation will look at the important trends and opportunities organizations are facing.

Roundtable Discussion

This hour is an interactive session. Bring your questions, ideas, and experience for a lively discussion on the morning’s identity and security topics.

Privileged Identity & Access Management: Effects on Risk Management and Cyberdefense (Ric Weeks, Lieberman Software)

Privileged Identity & Access Management (PIM & PAM) are now leading infosecurity technologies and are being used to significantly lower the risk of catastrophic data breaches. Initially deployed as an IT compliance measure to audit Administrator access and validate credential rotation, PIM/PAM are now used as part of a solid IT Risk Management cyberdefense architecture. In this session, based on respected research analyst data, you will learn quantitatively how you could expect to significantly lower this risk. We will also describe advanced Use Cases of how PIM/PAM are being used, both proactively and re-actively, in cyberdefense and cyberwarfare strategies.

Cloud Access Governance (Mary Berg, Saviynt)

As organizations continue to expand their IT presence into cloud platforms, they face the need to extend their security and compliance to the cloud as well. With hybrid IT becoming the norm, critical enterprise assets including sensitive data and infrastructure now reside outside the traditional perimeter. With cloud providers offering varying degrees of control, identity governance and privilege become the common thread binding the security and trust fabric together. During this session, you will gain insight into real-world security challenges inherent in cloud adoption, understand how to leverage risk analytics and security controls to gain visibility, and to protect the “keys to the kingdom” with privileged access governance by adopting a next-generation security framework for applications, data, and infrastructure.

Identity and GDPR (Hugh Simpson-Wells, OCG)

The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will affect nearly every business in some way – even US-based businesses. It is a subject that deserves a day of its own, but OCG’s CEO Hugh Simpson-Wells – who is UK-based, and so closer to the action – will give a short overview of why GDPR matters, and how identity management will help organizations stay compliant.

Closing Notes: Where Do We Go From Here? (Nicholas Hebert, OCG)

OCG will close the forum with a summary of the day’s highlights, notes on how to maximize your Microsoft licenses, and steps you can take to bring big IT wins to your organization – including the ‘must-dos’ and the ‘might-dos.’ Questions and discussion are welcome!
